Damnation Drumming offers a drum
workshop/circle experience for both adults and children.African Djembe hand drums and other
percussion is used to produce rhythm and sound with the ultimate aim of
everyone jamming together with total equality regardless of experience.Basic technique is given to those who need it
but the idea is just to allow a free expression whilst working as a collective
group.Anyone in the group can be
responsible for starting a rhythm and other join in with their own accent of
drumming.It’s great fun, a fabulous way
of relaxing and relieving stress and demonstrates how a collective people, even
when they may not even know each other, can work in harmony as group and create
an amazing sound and experience.All
drums and percussion is provided and people of any age are encouraged to join
in regardless of whether they have drumming experience or have never been near
a drum before.There will be workshops
running throughout the weekend. We do not charge a fee, but any donations for
participation will be gratefullyreceived.
JimiMcCafferty has 25 years drumming experience
as a session and gigging drummer and is currently drummer with the band
Fyrefly, who are performing at Fordham this weekend.His eclectic and imaginative style of
drumming creates some surprising results and he is on hand to offer any advice
